Expanding voluntary drug treatment services in Bac Giang

As part of the voluntary drug treatment model in Bac Giang, on 31st June and 12th August 2015, two community drug counselling and treatment sites in Neo and Chu, Bac Giang have been opened.
The opening ceremonies received representatives from Bac Giang’s Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, provincial People’s Committee, Department of Health, Police Department as well as people who use drugs and their families.
Speaking about how to effectively implement voluntary drug treatment, Mr. Dao Hong Song, Deputy Director of Bac Giang’s DOLISA said: “We need technical support for the health system as well as to create enabling environment for drug users to access to drug treatment services”.
The presence of drug users and their families showed positive attitude and enthusiasm from the community towards the model. “I will register to the program and are committed to follow doctor’s instruction” said a local drug user.
As of September 2015, the voluntary drug treatment model in Bac Giang consists of a voluntary drug treatment center and 5 community drug counselling and treatment sites.
