Collaborate with the People’s Police Academy on the working program with youth offenders

Youth and children abuse the laws from which situations? What risks are they facing? How to minimize wrongful convictions of youth? What to do to help youth offenders to of reintegrate into the society have a better life and a healthy future?

The first collaborative activity between the Vietnam People’s Police Academy and Center for Supporting Community Development Initiatives (SCDI) in this area will begin with a study at the boarding school for troubled youth. The research team included SCDI's Children and Youth program and the Faculty of the Criminal Justice Support and Justice Support, the work is to interview school students in order to understand their background, situations and risk factors.

On August 25th, 2017, at the People's Police Academy, Major General, Assoc. Prof., Dr. Tran Minh Chat, Deputy Director of the Academy and Dr. Khuat Thi Hai Oanh, Director of the Center for Supporting Community Development Initiatives (SCDI) signed the memorandum of cooperation. Attending the signing ceremony were Senior Lieutenant-Colonel Hoang DinhBan, Dean of Faculty of the Criminal Justice Support and Justice Support and other faculty leaders, and Mrs. Nguyen Thuy Linh – SCDI Children and Youth program manager and Ms. Dang Thi Minh Thu - SCDI Media Program Manager.
 
Two companies hope this cooperation will be kick start a long-term program to reduce the number of youth offenders and reduce their risk of recidivism.
