Reproductive health – Family planning for poor women

Most women do not seek reproductive health services and very passive in family planning, especially poor women. In order to improve access of poor women to reproductive health – family planning services. Responsible Parenthood in collaboration with Ba Đình Population – Family Planning Centre to implement a reproductive health – family planning campaign in March and April 2015.

The Project implemented free check-up and treatment for a number of commune in the District. At Ngọc Khánh commune, counselling, check-up, testing, emergency contraception and condoms were provided for 130 women. At Thành Công commune, ultrasound, emergency contraception, condoms and counselling were provided for 100 women in reproductive health.
Women in the communes were excited to receive the service. “I rarely go for reproductive health services, I think I am having some problem but very reluctant to come to hospitals as it’s crowded and costly. I was introduced by Hagar Center to come to the clinic but since it’s mobile check-up so I came here” said Bùi Thị Lăng (from Hoà Bình).
Regarding the quality of service, Bùi Lan Anh – teacher at Thành Công kindergarten said “I don’t usually go for SRH check-up. It’s lucky the the District organizes this so I can go. I feel comfortable as the place is very clean. Doctors are helpful and friendly. They are not just doing check-up but also providing counselling. All my questions are clarified".
Regarding the collaboration, Đinh Thu Hương – Thành Công population officer said “With the introduction from the District clinic, we are very fortunate to have the support from Nang Moi clinic. The District still lacks equipment and technology. It’s so good to receive support on human resources and free medications”.
