Summer Camp - Dream Journey 2014

Ngày 24 tháng 10 năm 2018

After 2 months of preparation, with many supports from different agencies and individuals, on the 20th June 2014, the Summer Camp – Dream Journey 2014 supported by SCDI in collaboration with Chong Chong Cooperative was organized.

The Camp was held in 3 days from the 20th to 22nd June 2014 with the participations of 31 children in Hanoi and surrounding provinces.

In the breeze of the summer morning, the parents and grandparents were bringing the children to the summer camp very early. Their smiles and bright eyes couldn’t hide their excitement and happiness to be able to meet and play with old and new friends.

In the morning of the first day, the children was introduced to each other and they sang along and participated in group activities. In the afternoon, the children participated in a “Go Green” class, learning and practicing about recycling. Even the facilitator was taken by surprise with how good the children could do with the support from the volunteers.

Afterward, the children had flashmob class which was much to their amusement.

The first day of the Summer Camp with lots of fun and joy, for both the children and volunteers.

In the second day, the children visited a pottery shop where they were told about porcelain and also made porcelain products themselves.  In the afternoon, the children learnt about Vietnam’s islands and  its sovereignty with a game of assembling the map of Vietnam with colorful papers.

On the third day, the fashion show, singing contest and flashmob were conducted with the participation of the children and their parents. They children and audience shared laughter and all expressed their great appreciation for the volunteers, organizers and donors of the Summer Camp.

“I have learnt a lot and more than anything I realize that I am very fortunate. Even without a perfect family but at least I have a very loving mother. Many other friends do not have parents to care for them, many have to help their grandparents instead of going to school like me…. I promise that I would do my best at school", shared a boy participating in the Summer Camp.
