Transfer of Harm Reduction Capacity Building Training Package

From 9th to 12th December 2014, in Hoa Binh, the Department for Social Vice Prevention (DSVP) and SCDI has organized “Training of Trainers: Knowledge and skills for social volunteers”. There are 26 staff from sub-DSVPs and volunteers from 5 provinces of Hung Yen, Hoa Binh, Bac Ninh, Vinh Phuc, Thanh Hoa.
This is the 2nd training of trainers under the Asia Action project implemented by SCDI with the supports from the European Commission through the International HIV/AIDS Alliance.
The training uses materials which has been piloted and revised after 9 trainings in 4 provinces of Phu Tho, Hanoi, Dak Lak and Ho Chi Minh city during May to December of 2014. Since the training package has received very positive feedbacks and appreciation from participated sub-DSVPs as well as volunteers, SCDI will continue to provide training for more trainers in Northern provinces. The training package is expected to be revised and officially implemented for more than 16,000 volunteers.
After 3-day of training, the participants have learnt useful knowledge on polices on vices prevention, responsibilities of the volunteers, drugs, sex work, HIV, human trafficking and basics skills on outreach, referral and case management. On the last day of the training, the participants has practiced what they have learnt
The participants show appreciation for the quality and practicality of the training package. They also believe that the knowledge and skills learnt from this training will be useful for their community work.
|Asia Action in Vietnam includes 2 main components: Capacity building for Community Social Voluntary Teams through development of training package and operational guidelines; and Support Bac Giang Department of Social Vices Prevention in developing community-based drug treatment model.|
