Equipping children from the Breaking The Cycle project with drowning prevention skills

Recently, the Center for Supporting Community Development Initiatives (SCDI), in collaboration with tesa Site Hai Phong Co., Ltd., organized a life skills session on drowning prevention for children participating in the “Breaking the Cycle” project. This meaningful educational activity aims to raise awareness and enhance self-protection skills for children amidst the rising number of drowning incidents, particularly during the summer.

During the session, the children learned about the causes of drowning, locations where drowning is more likely to occur, essential swimming and water safety information, and basic self-rescue and rescue techniques. The activities were designed to be easy for children to participate in through interactive approaches such as physical games, role-playing scenarios, and hands-on practice under the guidance of dedicated volunteers and experts. Beyond imparting knowledge, the session also fostered a proactive spirit, self-protection awareness, and mutual support among the children.

A notable highlight of the session was the active involvement of parents. They not only accompanied their children but also gained valuable knowledge to help them better support their kids in drowning prevention. This session provided an opportunity for children to practice essential life skills and reminded adults of their critical role in safeguarding and educating the younger generation.

SCDI extends heartfelt thanks to tesa Site Hải Phòng Co., Ltd., the volunteers, parents, and children for coming together to create a session filled with positive energy, care, and laughter.
