Raising awareness about SOGIESC

In celebration of International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Intersexphobia and Transphobia (IDAHOBIT) on May 17th, SCDI launched a social media campaign to provide educational resources on issues related to SOGIESC (sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, and sex characteristics). The campaign also featured stories of transgender individuals in the workplace, highlighting the challenges they face and the importance of creating a more inclusive environment. By sharing these experiences, SCDI aims to raise awareness and encourage action towards greater workplace equality for all.

"Six years in medical school, I felt that being transgender was my barrier to becoming a doctor. I was concerned that it might hinder trust from colleagues and patients unfamiliar with the LGBTQ+ community. Fearing these potential challenges, I considered pursuing a medical specialty that didn't require direct patient interaction. However, during my time at SCDI, I realized that being transgender is not a barrier but an opportunity for me to pursue my career as a doctor and bring more value to my community. I can also raise awareness, change people's perspectives to some extent, and prove that LGBT people are always present and contribute their efforts in all fields" shared by Linh in an interview on IDAHOBIT day.
