The Global Fund project for Tuberculosis Control, implemented by SCDI, aims to support the National TB Program in achieving the goal of Ending TB by 2035. Alongside the provincial TB program, the project actively identifies TB and latent TB cases and supports them in adhering to TB treatment. Additionally, the project facilitates connections, strengthens the capacity of the Community System to End TB (CSET), and promotes the participation of the network in TB response efforts in the provinces where the project is implemented.
All patients and their families were provided with comprehensive knowledge and skills to care for TB, ensuring they correctly understand the disease and do not stigmatize or discriminate against TB patients. Additionally, TB patients facing difficulties with identification papers, health insurance, drug use, etc., received support for purchasing health insurance, nutritional assistance, and methadone treatment.
CSET in the provinces continued to be established, expanded, and enhanced, becoming a crucial resource in detecting TB cases and supporting treatment adherence. An effective coordination mechanism was maintained between SCDI, the community network and the health system, including pulmonary hospitals, health centers and TB control teams, commune health stations in the project provinces, creating a robust and extensive network that contributes to accelerating the End of TB by 2035.
2023 Key results
Through community active TB screening, 71,297 people received free TB screenings, resulting in the detection of 671 active TB cases, with 655 cases (97.6% of detected TB cases) supported into treatment. For latent TB testing (Mantoux test), 7,514 individuals underwent TST, with 1,362 found to have latent TB, and 1,187 supported in registering for treatment.
