The COVID-19 pandemic since 2020 has caused severe impacts across the European region, directly affecting the decline of the economy and increasing unemployment rates. Vietnamese people in Europe face challenges in maintaining their livelihoods as their income sources decrease, as well as a lack of social integration and psychological support. Since 2018, the Reintegration and Return Network in Europe (ERRIN) initiative has been formed with the participation of 16 EU member countries, aiming to ensure that migrants can return home safely and sustainably. However, this nation-level program encounters obstacles as it cannot comprehensively address local issues. As a trusted regional partner, IRARA/ FRONTEX has chosen SCDI as a local partner in implementing this initiative in Vietnam. The comprehensive return and reintegration program includes two main support packages: Immediate Post-Return Support and Post-Repatriation Support for those who previously attempted settlement in a European country to return home.

The support activities immediately upon return are as follows:

Cash assistance (for incidental expenses and meals)
Airport pickup
Transportation (returning home to distant provinces)
Temporary accommodation upon arrival (up to 03 days – temporary stay in Hanoi if unable to return home immediately)
Medical support upon arrival (agreed upon before departure)
For the post-repatriation support package, for each case, the SCDI Center will assess the quality of needs and develop a suitable reintegration support plan for each individual

Specific post-repatriation support activities include:
