Silent warriors pushing back malaria in the village

CMAT - Community Malaria Action Team is a community group established by SCDI, consisting of local residents with experience in forest and field activities and respected individuals in the local community, under the project "Enhancing Community Engagement in Malaria Elimination." After receiving training, CMAT will deliver high-quality malaria prevention and treatment measures to forest-goers, migrants, and communities at high risk who have limited access.

In 2022, 172 CMAT teams operated in 85 communes across 6 provinces: Gia Lai, Dak Lak, Dak Nong, Binh Phuoc, Binh Thuan, and Phu Yen. They conducted 1,458 group communication sessions and 19,081 individual communication sessions. They distributed malaria prevention items, including mosquito nets (4,862), protective clothing (3,245 sets), helmets (3,668), and repellent cream (3,398 tubes).

A total of 6,639 individuals were reached and referred to the commune health stations for malaria testing. Additionally, 50 customers received support and successfully completed treatment, contributing to the overall management of 248 malaria cases province-wide.
