SCDI presents to readers the outstanding activities of Health and Social Security and Children and Youth program in July 2023


 
Extracurricular activities for children of "Breaking the Cycle” project in Hai Phong 

On the morning of July 29th, 2023, SCDI organized a group meeting for children of “Breaking the Cycle” project in Hai Phong with the participation of staff from tesa Site Hai Phong Co., Ltd. At the extra-curricular session, students experienced making picture frames and painting pictures from recycled items. Children could unleash their creativity following their interests and imagination. Parents participated in the panel discussion to exchange, share and find ways to solve difficulties in learning or raising children.

DRIVE-C project aims to eliminate hepatitis C virus for people who inject drugs 

SCDI has implemented the DRIVE-C project towards the elimination of hepatitis C virus for people who inject drugs in Hai Phong. The project implemented activities accompanied by the conducting of research, tracking and harm reduction of HIV and HCV. Clients participating in the study were tested for HIV/HCV and did the load test on clients with HIV; provide knowledge about HCV thereby raising awareness for clients to prevent and reduce risks; counseling, support for HIV/HCV prevention and harm reduction and referral services.

SCDI continues to implement TB screening activities in the community 

Working in collaboration with the NTP National TB Control Program and the Center for Disease Control implement active screening for TB and latent TB in communities in Nghe An, Binh Phuoc and Dak Lak provinces. Screening activities have identified patients with TB and latent TB in the community. The CSET (Community System to TB) network will follow up to support patients to adhere to and complete treatment.

Increase the participation of TB community networks 

Starting in June 2023, SCDI has organized capacity building training sessions for the Community System to End TB (CSET) network. The CSET network is present in every stage of the operation, from finding and reaching people at high risk of TB, persuading them to get screened, assisting at screenings, to connecting, staying in touch and supporting patients with adherence. Therefore, the CSET network plays an important role in implementing the goal of ending TB by 2030.
