Under the direction of Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs (MOLISA) on the implementation of the pilot model of social and legal assitance, consultation and referral services for people who use drugs, Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs (DOLISA) cooperated with SCDI organized “Training on referral procedures and treatment support for people who use drugs” on March 3rd and 4th.
The training class welcome the participation of representatives from DOLISA; Hanoi Department of Social Vices Prevention; Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), Sub – DOLISA in Nam Tu Liem and Long Bien Districts, medical centers at district level, police, social vices prevention stff in 6 pilot wards.

In the opening speech, Mr. Phung Quang Thuc - Head of Hanoi Department of Social Vices Prevention emphasized the importance of reinforcing collaboration among stakeholders to provide adaquate, effective services to reduce the status of crimes through social and legal assistance.
Mrs. Do Thi Ninh Xuan – Senior Adviser of Harm Reduction and Addiction Treatment of SCDI shared at the training class
During two-day trainings, under the guidance of Mrs. Do Thi Ninh Xuan – Senior Adviser of Harm Reduction and Addiction Treatment of SCDI and Mrs. Nguyen Thi Lien, lecturer of University of Social Sciences and Humanities, participants were equipped with essential knowledge and skills regarding:
- Referral procedures and follow-up support
- Skills to work with people who use drugs
- Motivational interviewing techniques
In the coming time, SCDI and anoi Department of Social Vices Prevention are going to organize trainings for social workers in the community. Hopefully, after these helpful traning sessions, participants can apply these knowledge and skills in supporting people who use drugs to access to health services, HIV prevention and treatment, above all, to recovery and social inclusion.
