On March 20, in collaboration with the Nghe An Department of Health and Nghe An Lung Hospital, SCDI co-organized a conference to review the results of tuberculosis response in 2025 in Nghe An, as well as celebrating World TB Day. The event provided an opportunity to reflect on ongoing efforts in the province while creating space for community voices and lived experiences to be heard and recognized.
During the conference, Loc Van Hai, a member of the Community System to End TB (CSET), shared his journey of overcoming tuberculosis. His story highlighted the multiple challenges faced by people affected by TB and underscored the importance of empathy and support from families, healthcare workers, and communities. Such support helps patients feel less isolated and strengthens their confidence to complete treatment.
Having successfully recovered, Hai, similar to many other members of the community network, now continues to accompany patients, share hope, and encourage those currently undergoing treatment.
His story reaffirmed the critical role of community networks in the fight against TB. Beyond bridging information and health services, community members also provide emotional support, motivate patients, and help them remain committed to treatment.
With the active engagement of the CSET network, TB support activities are becoming increasingly comprehensive. These efforts not only improve case detection and treatment linkage, but also raise awareness, reduce stigma, and build a stronger foundation for ending TB in Viet Nam.
