On May 13, 2026, a community-based HIV epidemiological assessment following the CHEER (Community-based HIV Epidemiology Evaluation and Response) model was launched in Quy Chau District, Nghe An Province, as part of the Global Fund HIV Programme.
In the two days leading up to the launch, SCDI staff worked closely with peer outreach workers and local health staff to prepare the venue, set up equipment, and review operational procedures, helping ensure the assessment could be carried out smoothly and in a way that reflected the local context.

Despite the hot weather and challenging travel conditions, peer outreach workers, local health staff, and the project team continued working together to reach community members and maintain activities throughout the site.
The assessment is expected to continue for one month in Quy Chau. In addition to providing a clearer understanding of the local HIV epidemic, it will help connect more people with appropriate health services, contributing to ongoing HIV prevention and response efforts in the community.
