From September 28th to October 3rd, members of the Community Momentum and Action Team (CMAT) in Phu Tuc and Ia Tul communes, Gia Lai Province, joined a series of knowledge and skills-sharing sessions to prepare for the next phase of SCDI’s Breaking the Cycle program in the area.
The sessions covered key areas of the program, including the first 1,000 days of life, adolescent sexual and reproductive health, and pathways to vocational training and employment. Beyond sharing knowledge, the sessions gave CMAT members an opportunity to discuss local needs, develop plans, and align on how they will coordinate upcoming activities.

CMAT is already a familiar and trusted network among local communities and authorities, building on connections that SCDI developed together with local residents through earlier malaria prevention activities.
As Breaking the Cycle expands to Gia Lai with the support of Agence Française de Développement (AFD), CMAT will build on this existing foundation while connecting with more trusted local figures, including village and hamlet leaders and community-based health and population collaborators. This growing network will help extend the program’s reach and bring its activities closer to people and their local needs.
With strong knowledge of the local context and close ties to their communities, CMAT members will play an important role in helping Breaking the Cycle take root in Gia Lai and respond effectively to local priorities.
