From May 11 to 14, SCDI cooperated with the Central Highlands Community Support Social Enterprise (CCS) and the Harmonrise Social Enterprise to implement a series of activities to introduce the project "Breaking the Cycle Towards Sustainable Development in Gia Lai Province”.
Since 2021, SCDI has been implementing the Breaking the Cycle program in Ha Noi, Hai Phong and Ho Chi Minh City, with the goal of building a comprehensive support ecosystem for children and youths from disadvantaged backgrounds. In the 2026 - 2029 period, with support from the French Development Agency (Agence Française de Développement), the Breaking the Cycle intervention model will be expanded to Ia Tul and Phu Tuc communes (Gia Lai province).
Leveraging a strong, long-standing community network and close partnerships with local authorities and social organizations, the project aims to enhance education, vocational training, and decent employment opportunities for youth, fostering a sustainable development model for Gia Lai and the wider Central Highlands region.
During this kick-off activity, the project team held productive meetings with the People's Committees of both communes, the Department of Health, the Department of Education and Training of Gia Lai province, and relevant local agencies. The team also conducted field visits to local health centers, schools, and local households to understand the community's actual needs and challenges. Throughout the meetings and field trips, the strong endorsement from local leaders and authorities has provided immense motivation for the journey ahead.
