Strengthening capacity for community-based mental health interventions

As part of DREAMH, a project supported by L’Initiative - Expertise France, SCDI organized a practical exchange and guidance session on delivering group-based interventions, with the participation of community-based organizations working with the project.

The session focused on practical approaches that can be applied in community settings, including the Healing Circle intervention, group facilitation, and ways to support clients who may require additional attention. Participants had the opportunity to try out selected activities, discuss situations that may arise during implementation, and clarify key considerations for adapting these approaches to their day-to-day work.

Beyond strengthening practical skills, the session provided an opportunity for participating organizations to share experiences and align on how they can coordinate during implementation. Close coordination among the different actors is an important foundation for delivering community-based mental health interventions in a consistent and context-appropriate way.

Through DREAMH, SCDI continues to work with community-based organizations to strengthen their capacity to deliver mental health support and bring appropriate interventions closer to people who may need them.
