SCDI News in August 2025

SCDI presents to readers the outstanding news of August 2025.

SCDI officially verified as an Impact Organization on ImpactCollab

In August, SCDI was officially recognized as a verified Impact Organization on ImpactCollab, a strategic platform developed by the Asian Venture Philanthropy Network (AVPN). ImpactCollab connects donors, impact investors, and social organizations across Asia to promote transparency, sustainable governance, and results-driven contributions.

Becoming part of this network affirms SCDI’s commitment to accountability and effective, evidence-based work. The verification also opens new opportunities to engage with donors and partners across the region, strengthening collective efforts toward community well-being and sustainable development.

Connecting children in the “Breaking the Cycle” program with mental health specialists

In August, nearly 20 children and their caregivers in Hai Phong joined a mental health screening under the Breaking the Cycle program. A specialist assessed their mental health, psychology, and behavior, while engaging caregivers directly in the process.

These assessments will guide tailored intervention plans, strengthening collaboration between families and specialists. Beyond detection, the sessions also help equip children and caregivers with life skills, marking an important step in creating a safe and nurturing environment for children’s growth.

Back-to-school support for children in the Breaking the Cycle program

As the new school year approached, SCDI’s Ho Chi Minh City office prepared 200 sets of supplies (including notebooks, pens, crayons, and rulers) for children in the project. Textbook support was also provided to ensure every child has the required learning materials.

Nutrition support for 60 families in the “Breaking the Cycle” program

With donor support, the Breaking the Cycle program distributed nutrition support to 60 families in Ha Noi and Ho Chi Minh City in August. Each household received a bag of rice sufficient for nearly a month, helping improve daily meals and reduce living costs.

Nurturing dreams with children in the “Breaking the Cycle” program ahead of the new school year

Since May 2025, HSBC and Aide et Action’s "Adopting a Dream” initiative has opened opportunitites for the children in SCDI's Breaking the Cycle program to share their wishes. More than 70 dreams have been collected, with 40 already promised support, ranging from medical care to school supplies, uniforms, kitchen repairs, and even electricity bills. These simple yet practical gifts help children feel supported and allow their dreams to take flight.

Ahead of the new school year, HSBC also prepared thoughtful presents to strengthen children’s confidence and improve their learning conditions. By turning dreams into reality, the initiative not only equips children with what they need for school but also motivates them to keep striving for a brighter future.
