Active community-based TB screening in Nghe An
Active community-based TB screening in Nghe An

From September 22 to 30, SCDI, in collaboration with Nghe An Lung Hospital, Yen Thanh Health Center, commune authorities, and local health stations, conducted active TB and respiratory disease screening at 26 community sites across the area.

During the first two days, 1,614 people received screening and digital chest X-rays supported by AI. The screening identified 71 people with presumptive TB and 161 with other respiratory conditions. Of these, 72 were referred for GeneXpert testing. Four people tested positive for TB and were promptly linked to care and treatment.

These initial results highlight the value of actively identifying TB cases within communities. Early detection allows people with TB to be connected to appropriate services sooner, while helping reduce the risk of transmission and protect the health of families and communities.

By bringing screening closer to where people live, this approach creates more opportunities for early detection of TB and other respiratory conditions, particularly in areas where access to healthcare services remains challenging.
